Two different mechanisms
Cold washing relies on water at ambient temperature plus mechanical action — friction washing, agitation and rinsing. It removes contamination that is on the surface: soil, sand, dust and loose organic matter.
열 세척 adds heat, and usually detergent. Heat softens and dissolves the things that adhere rather than sit: label glue, adhesive residue, oil, grease and some printing inks. Detergent lowers the surface tension so the water can reach into the gaps the contamination occupies.
The distinction matters because these are not the same job at different intensities. Cold water at higher pressure does not remove adhesive; it removes more of what was already loose.

When hot washing is required
- PET bottles. Labels, adhesives and residual beverage are the design problem, and hot washing
with detergent is the standard answer.
- Post-consumer containers with oily or food residue. HDPE and PP containers from municipal
collection, particularly those that held oil or dairy products.
- Heavily printed or laminated material. Where ink or adhesive has to be released before the
material can be pelletized cleanly.
- Waste streams where the buyer's specification requires it. Sometimes hot washing is required
not by the material but by what the output is going to be used for.
