According to Fact.MR, as consumer preferences for sustainable and recyclable products continue to grow, the global recycled PET market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8% by the end of 2031, totaling $4.2 billion.

Recently, global food and beverage giants such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi have accelerated the application of rPET and continued to expand their global market layout of 100%rPET bottles.

 

 

Coca-Cola: 100%rPET bottles are coming to market

To date, Coca-Cola offers 100 percent rPET bottles in more than 25 markets around the world, which is one step closer to its goal of "zero waste in the world." Recently, Coca-Cola has launched 100%rPET bottles in Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East.

 

On June 22, Coca-Cola Indonesia announced the launch of a new 100%rPET beverage bottle (excluding the cap and label) throughout Indonesia. The company's 390-ml Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite, and 425-ml Sprite Waterlymon all come in 100%rPET bottles.

 

Coca-Cola is also using 100%rPET beverage bottles in the Middle East for the first time in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which is also the first time during the World Cup to use 100%rPET packaging.

 

Pepsi: Thailand's first all-RPET beverage bottle

 

In May this year, Pepsi ® Beverages of Suntory Pepsi Beverages (Thailand) Limited partnered with Chulalongkorn University (PMCU) to launch the "Pepsi Recycle PET Bottle Campaign" and announced that Pepsi would be "the first company in the soft drink market in Thailand to use 100% rPET bottles as beverage packaging."

In addition to Thailand in Southeast Asia, PepsiCo has launched rPET bottles in South Africa and Bangladesh, and will launch rPET bottles in Egypt, Qatar and Pakistan by the end of the year.

According to sources, Pepsi continues to promote the policy, the goal is to introduce recycled plastic bottles in 10 countries in AMESA (Africa, the Middle East and South Asia) by 2023. According to 2021 figures, Pepsi helped collect and recycle 107,000 tons of plastic bottles and 19,000 tons of multilayer plastic film in the seven countries of AMESA.
